Advertiser
Information:
Please submit the original photo(s) with your
ad text, layout concept (not required) and payment via
US Postal Service. Please understand this is to achieve the best
possible printed quality for your advertising dollar.
Digital image
submission information:
Email your Hi Res photo file in full color (RGB) at 300 dpi scanned at
the size you wish for the image to appear (general rule is 5" x 7" or
larger) to Mary at whippetwatch@yahoo.com.
We pride ourselves on customer
satisfaction, and a part of that comes in the form of good
communication on our part with all advertisers. One of the steps we
take to insure you will be pleased is to email low resolution (PDF or
JPG) proof. We feel
this is just one of those extra steps needed to insure a happy customer
and good customer/service provider relations. All advertisers
purchasing
1/2 page or larger receive one complimentary copy of that issue.
Pre-designed ad specifications:
The file size needs to
be 8 1/2 x 11 with 1/4 bleed all around (on all four sides), finished
trim size will be 8 x 10.5.
Photoshop files: please set the
file to actual print
size, TIF or EPS file format preferred, 300 dpi, CMYK color (not RGB)
for color ads or grayscale for black and white ads (highlights should
have a 3% dot shadows should have a 97% dot and set mid tones a bit
light as the printing process does cause the images to come out a bit
darker), and flatten the complete image before sending it in so there
are no font issues.
Illustrator or Freehand files: set
the file to the
full with bleeds size, save as a EPS file, select all type prior to
sending image, convert all text to paths/outlines, resave file (incase
there is an error that you need to correct later) as a 2nd file name
for submission. All images that are used in the file need to have the
above Photoshop file specifications.
QuarkXPress (MAC ONLY) files: submit
all fonts
(printer AND screen) with completed ad layout via CD (emailed quark
files not accepted due to the size and all required files that must
accompany it), all images must accompany the file (see Photoshop
requirements for all images), file size as previously stated. Be sure
to not use the "bold, italic, etc" styles on the measurements palette
as these are for screen representation only and will not
print.
PDF files: must be set as press
files, all fonts and images embedded, 300 dpi on all images and no
compression.
Front/Back cover details: only
call name goes on the
front or back covers, there is a half page inside for the story section
which needs to be set up at a trim size of 8 x 4.75, (the 8 wide is the
actual TRIM/finished size so the text should be set in at least 1/4"
from the sides or it could well be trimmed off), if you have a screened
background please add the bleed for that.
Unacceptable designed files/layouts: Anything
printed (laser or inkjet) will only be used as a guide for
layout/design! No Word, Powerpoint,
InDesign files accepted.
All returned
checks charged $25 fee
and future payments will require a money order, credit card, or
certified bank check.
