Hello and welcome to my website! My name is Mary Magee. I am a mother of 2 grown sons, Jeff & Patch, who in years gone by used to attend all the events with me and participated in Jr Showmanship too. I also have a wonderful daughter-in-law Danielle, and am a blessed grand mother to Kaylee and Triston as well as my youngest son's girlfriend, Kristen whom I adore. I share my life with my family, human and canine, and reside in Central Indiana.

I currently attend dog events including AKC shows & WRA racing, have been a member of The American Whippet Club for several years and am a founding member (and Vice President) of Midwest Whippet Racing Association. Dogs I have bred or co bred attend AKC & UKC shows, WRA & NOTRA racing, ASFA and sometimes AKC Lure coursing. Currently I have four Whippets and one Chinese Crested. Some of those shown on my site may not live here, but I am proud of them none-the-less.

I show my own dogs and also have handled Whippets, IGs, Basenjis, Afghan hounds, Saluki & Keeshond for a few select others for the AKC Conformation shows. I collect brass, ceramic, china and bronze Whippet figurines &  statues as well as books on the breed, and spend most of my 'spare' time studying pedigrees. 

I am a Graphic Designer who, due to a deep desire to have a Whippet publication covering as many of the aspects of the breed as possible, started the Whippet Watch magazine magazine in 1999 and have published a yearly whippet calendar since 1999 also.

I found many of the walking leads manufactured to be unsafe due to having non welded metal parts,  so I started making my own collars and leads. I sent a few out to a close friend who then informed me I should start offering them to others ... in late 2004 1st Choice Collars & Leads was born and it has significantly grown in a very short amount of time. My individually made specialty items - collars & leads with fringes, beads, feathers, tassels and most recently embroidered personalized items as well as doggy necklaces - are sturdy and durable but give a flair like no other AND they are significantly lower priced than the competitors'. Pop by the site and have a look around, make sure to check the "samples" page!! I have a very low 'overhead' and in turn pass the savings (and HIGH quality) over to the customer!
